The 10 Foot (3.0 m) Aluminum Utility Skiff is a compact, practical, and easy-to-build welded aluminum boat designed for fishing, recreation, and general utility use. Its progressive V-bottom hull provides a good balance of stability and ride comfort, while the compact dimensions make the boat easy to transport, launch, and handle.
The boat is designed for 10–20 HP outboard engines and can carry up to two persons. Two integrated storage lockers and a practical open interior make this small skiff well suited to lakes, rivers, and sheltered waters.

Progressive V-Bottom Hull
The hull features a progressive deadrise that increases toward the bow. It starts at 10.5° at the stern, increases to 13.5° at approximately 1.25 m (4′ 1 7/32″) from the stern, and reaches 23.5° at approximately 2.50 m (8′ 2 7/16″) from the stern.
This hull geometry gives the boat good stability at rest while the sharper forward sections help provide a smoother and more comfortable ride through small waves and moderate chop.
Storage and Interior Layout
The design includes two integrated storage lockers: one center locker and one stern locker. These compartments provide useful space for fishing equipment, safety gear, batteries, ropes, tools, and other onboard accessories.
The compact floor layout provides a practical working area for two persons while keeping the boat simple and easy to use.

Construction Method
The skiff is designed as a fully welded aluminum structure. The bottom and sides are made from 3 mm (1/8″) aluminum, while the frames, longitudinals, and transom are reinforced with 4 mm (5/32″) aluminum.
The compact hull size and relatively simple structure make the parts easy to handle during cutting, fitting, and welding. Proper tack welding, regular dimensional checks, and a controlled welding sequence are recommended to maintain correct hull geometry and minimize heat distortion.

This design is particularly well suited to DIY and beginner aluminum boat builders. Its compact dimensions, simple structure, and straightforward assembly make it a practical first aluminum skiff project.
Previous professional boat-building experience is not required, although basic aluminum cutting, fitting, and welding skills are recommended.
